El Liceo Jubilar Juan Pablo II, nace en el año 2002 en la zona de “Gruta de Lourdes” con el apoyo inicial de la Fundación Católica holandesa Kirche in Not y el Arzobispado, convirtiéndose en el primer centro educativo gratuito de gestión privada.
Asisten anualmente más de 400 alumnos, divididos en Ciclo Básico, Espacio de Exalumnos y Liceo de Adultos. Se sustenta al 100% mediante donaciones y colaboraciones de empresas, personas, fundaciones, familias de alumnos, INAU y eventos puntuales de recaudación de fondos, además de voluntarios que trabajan en diferentes áreas.
Dentro de la labor educativa, el deporte constituye un pilar fundamental. Todos los alumnos practican alguno de los deportes que allí se imparten: Rugby, Fútbol, Fútbol femenino, Futbol sala, Basquetbol, Hockey, Jiu Jitsu, entre otros.
Varias instituciones académicas, deportivas y voluntarios vinculados al deporte* apoyan esta labor educativa permitiendo el intercambio continuo de planteles, reforzando de esta forma el aprendizaje de valores en todos los deportistas involucrados.
